Rick is a very courageous individual that I admire. Hearing how his life fell apart, his divorce ending, not knowing whether he was gay, losing his job, etc., and then going out to look for someone who was infected to infect himself as a way of ending his life took my breath away. In a way, it made me sad but also angry, angry at the fact that someone would want to do that to themselves. I guess I never realize that even if I think, "life can't be that bad/" for some it's at its worst and from what Rick had mentioned that's where his life was. Seeing all his medication and hearing that his T-cell count is at 54 and viral load is at 175,000 was very shocking. Coming from a religious family myself and hearing that he was a preacher was wonderful! I love how even with all the negativity, he was able to find himself through the Lord.

I admire both Rick and Kathy for all their courage and for being so willing to open and share their stories with others. I would like to thank them for being here and educating us through their tough experiences. Hearing what they've been through and seeing who they've come to be is amazing and admirable!! Seeing the way they've handled their situations and realizing they can't let the disease take over their life is wonderful!!
